Cancellations

When plans change.

Last updated: May 18, 2026

The short version

Cancellation, change, and refund policies are set by the supplier you booked with - the resort, airline, cruise line, or tour operator. Savvy Getawayss is your advocate when something goes sideways, but we do not control the supplier's rules and cannot override their refund schedules.

If you're worried about needing flexibility, the right tool is travel insurance - and we'll always offer it before you book.

How supplier policies usually work

Most all-inclusive resort, cruise, and tour bookings move through three windows:

  • Refundable window: typically 60-90+ days before departure. Cancelling here usually means a full or near-full refund, sometimes minus a small supplier admin fee.
  • Penalty window: typically 30-60 days out. Refunds drop to 50-75 percent of the trip cost.
  • Non-refundable window: typically inside 30 days. The trip is yours, even if you can't go. Insurance is the only path to recover funds here.

The exact dates and percentages vary by supplier and by package - we will share the supplier's specific schedule with you before you confirm.

Our planning service fee

Savvy Getawayss does not currently charge a separate planning fee for standard bookings - we are compensated by the supplier on the back end. If a trip is complex enough to warrant a fee (multi-stop international itineraries, large groups, custom honeymoons), we will quote and collect that fee in writing before any planning begins. Any planning fee is non-refundable once paid because it covers work already performed.

How to cancel or change a trip

Email or text Savvy Getawayss as soon as you know there's a problem. The earlier we hear, the more room we have to move things in your favor with the supplier. We'll confirm the cancellation request, pull the supplier's current penalty schedule, and walk you through your options.

Refunds, when due, are issued by the supplier to the original method of payment. Timing varies by supplier but is typically 7-21 business days after the cancellation is processed.

Trips Savvy Getawayss can cancel on you

We reserve the right to decline or end an engagement if continued planning would be unsafe, illegal, or in bad faith. Any non-refundable supplier deposits already collected remain governed by the supplier's terms.

Travel insurance

Travel insurance can cover cancellation, interruption, medical evacuation, lost luggage, and supplier insolvency. Cancel-for-any-reason (CFAR) policies extend that coverage to situations outside the standard list of covered reasons. See the travel insurance page for details.
